How festive are these?!  I woven these in 100% cotton and framed them on these greeting cards with a sparkly gold frame!

The weather has started turning cool up here in Denver so my thoughts have started to be overrun with snow, fresh baked goods, and holiday parties.  Any one these towels would be right at home in bread basket on a Thanksgiving or holiday table.  And I can't wait.  It's nearly mashed potato season now!

This summer weight wrap is different on both sides.  One is a what you see in this photo, a bold navy blue diamond m0tif. And the other is a heathered navy with a subtle diamond pattern.  Magenta stripes tie both sides together with a fun feminine touch.  Click through the picture below for more photos in the etsy listing

I say "inspired by nature..." but I am a child of the 1980's... sometimes I am inspired by Jem and the Holograms. :)

You know how I said that the pink scarf was my favorite?  I may have lied.  This scarf is LITERALLY amazing.  It takes my breath away when I have a reason to take it out.

Why weave towels?  Kitchen towels? Seriously you can buy these for like $5 at Target.  I know, I know.  That is exactly what I thought too.  But just like socks.  Why knit socks?  Because knit socks are amazing.  It turns out that towels are weaver's socks....  Handwoven towels are something you never knew you needed in your life until you have them.
I had fun weaving the veggie and berry borders on these slightly off-white 100% cotton towels.  I love how soft these towels are already.  And they'll only get more so with time, use and washings!

Neutral?  Where's the pink? the blue?  How can I weave with black and browns?  Well, I did.  I stepped out of my comfort zone in into the lovely lovely word of neutrals.  The resulting wrap is modern, with big blocks of black on a brown and taupe background, but grown up and sophisticated too.  This wrap is at home in the office or the opera.

When designing the stripe pattern of this shawl I turned the the sequence of numbers known as the Fibonacci sequence.  0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8... (this blog post has more).  Using a blend of organic cotton and linen this wrap is perfect for the spring right through the fall.

The green and yellow undertones were hand dyed by me, inspired by my mom! I told her I was going to dye the warp for a new scarf with a dark brown weft. She loves gold and green together.

Spiced Cider, Sweaters, Pumpkins, Crisp Weather... does it get any better?!  Not for me.  I love fall.  I am a "fall person".  Orange, yellow, brown and green are my colors (and maroon, lets not forget dark red now). I want to stare at these towels and wish that winter would stay far far away!

The KT boundary has always fascinated me as a geologist.  In the rock record it usually appears as a thin layer between two somewhat similar looking rocks.  But contained in that layer is a complexity that is still not completely understood.  This layer marks the end of the Cretaceous and the beginning of the Tertiary... in other words, the 65 million year old event that caused most of the life on earth to go extinct (including the dinosaurs..  I do not have my own good picture and I don't want to steal anyone else's.  But if you google KT boundary you'll see the thin, dark layer I am referring to... The thin rock layer with a huge story to tell!
I though of that boundary a lot while weaving this.  From afar you can see three "layers" but the closer you get your nose to it the more detail you'll see, much like the KT Boundary.

This yarn wanted to be woven plainly, I wanted something fancy. We compromised on hand manipulated lace on either end.

One of my favorite finished pieces, this scarf was an experiment dying the merino and alpaca yarn the variegated pink.  I don't think I could duplicate it again for my life!
